2008-2009 Coleman Classroom Portal
Students and Parents--
The 2008-2009 school year will be an exciting time for Booker T. Washington Magnet High School. With the introduction of year long classes and schedules that alternate daily, along with the addition of sports programs, we must all put our heads down and work harder to make sure we come through the year unscathed.
This website is meant to supplement my classes and extend them into the collaborative media space and into the online networks where most high school students today already reside. Student email, blogs, podcasts, and wikis will be just the most basic of tools we will use in this space. When a class is missed, discussions, presentations and assignments will all be archived and presented here or at the Courseware site set up for these classes.
Creativity is one of the most important things that students of today must learn. A student graduating this year or next will conceivably be in the workplace until the 2050's. Think for a moment how different the workplace and home are today that they were in the 1950s. Students must be able to adapt to these changes, to take the knowledge they have and apply it to a different set of circumstances. By using collaborative network based media in classroom instruction, hopefully students will be more engaged and more creative about the way they approach the History curriculum.
If you have questions about the class or how you or your student are doing in the class. Please do not hesitate to contact me.
